Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) in the group Translational Peptidomics

The main goal of the research group “Translational Peptidomics” led by PD Dr. Patrick Oeckl is the use of mass spectrometry-based peptidomic and proteomic approaches for the discovery and validation of peptide biomarkers in CSF and blood for neurodegenerative diseases and to study disease-related changes in translational research projects. The focus of the research is on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) and Huntingtons disease (HD) with access to the resources of the large biobank in Ulm and an established research environment for these diseases in Ulm. The group has many years of experience in the development and application of optimized mass spectrometric workflows using state-of-the-art technology (Sciex QTRAP6500, Thermo QExactive).
We are looking for an ambitious postdoctoral researcher for clinical and translational peptidomic and proteomic studies. The focus can be more on the practical part (sample preparation, mass spectrometry) or on bioinformatic analysis of peptidomic/proteomic data.

The specific tasks involved in this position are:

Development of state-of-the-art peptidomic workflows using mass spectrometry
(Targeted) Peptidomic/proteomic analysis of human CSF/brain samples for biomarker discovery in ALS, FTLD or HD
Bioinformatic analysis of peptidomic/proteomic data
Collaboration with other groups in translational research projects
Presentations at progress report meetings and scientific conferences
Writing of scientific publications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Molecular Medicine or other relevant fields and should have a strong background in mass spectrometry-based peptidomics / proteomics / bioinformatics. Prior experience in biomarker research and neuroscience is a plus. Applicants should be fluent in English and possess good communication and team working skills.
